U.S. President Joe Biden on Friday visited a commuter bridge that collapsed in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Viewing the injury, the president lauded the work of emergency officers within the metropolis within the wake of the collapse.
Biden later kicked off a speech he had been set to provide on infrastructure spending with remarks in regards to the collapse. He mentioned the 50-year-old bridge was certainly one of many in that metropolis in want of restore.
“Throughout the nation there are 45,000 bridges in poor situation. It’s simply merely unacceptable,” he mentioned.
The bridge was given a “poor” total situation ranking by the Pennsylvania Division of Transportation.
