Berlin (dpa) – Germany is closing its airspace to Russian plane due to the battle in Ukraine. The regulation applies from Sunday afternoon and impacts flights to Germany in addition to overflights, in response to the Federal Ministry of Transport. Humanitarian flights are exempt from the ban. In response to the ministry, the ban will initially apply for 3 months.
Germany had introduced the preparation of a corresponding regulation on Saturday night. Such bans are already in pressure in a number of EU states, and others have introduced them. Russia then introduced that it will additionally not permit plane from the respective international locations to fly in Russian airspace. German airline Lufthansa had already introduced that it will initially not fly to or over Russia.
