United Nations Secretary-Normal Antonio Guterres on Monday sounded the alarm over Russia elevating the alert stage for its nuclear forces after invading Ukraine, describing it as a “bone-chilling improvement.”
Guterres stated “the prospect of nuclear battle, as soon as unthinkable, is now again throughout the realm of chance,” and repeated his name for a direct cessation of hostilities.
He additionally stated the UN was going to allocate an additional $40 million from its Central Emergency Response fund to ramp up humanitarian help for Ukraine.
In the meantime, Russian consultant Vasily Nebenzya denied that American journalist and filmmaker Brent Renaud was killed by Russian forces saying that the city of Irpin is totally managed by Ukrainian forces.
