Initially introduced within the fall 2021 funds, the $25 million Strategic Agri-Meals Processing Fund Program will launch April 1, 2022.

Agri-food companies are eligible for as much as $3 million in cost-share funding to both construct new processing services, increase or modernize present services and undertake new modern applied sciences to enhance present operations.
“This strategic funding will increase competitiveness and create new alternatives for the Ontario meals processing sector and the whole provide chain,” says Lisa Thompson, Minister of Agriculture, Meals and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA). “By enabling extra private-sector investments that improve native meals manufacturing, we’re making certain Ontario has a secure and secure meals provide made proper right here at house whereas driving financial development and creating good native jobs.”
In an effort to extend native meals manufacturing throughout Ontario, rural, northern and Indigenous companies will obtain a further 5 per cent in cost-share funding to construct essential processing capability in underserviced areas, the province says.
