Frantic crewman on sinking Russian warship Moskva requires assist as sirens blare
A frantic crew member on a Russian warship an be heard calling for assistance is it sinks as sirens blare after being hit by Ukrainian missiles.
The Ukrainian navy has launched a part of what it says is the intercepted radio message from the stricken Moskva, because it lay crippled and ablaze within the Black Sea.
The 12,490 ton missile cruiser, Russia’s Black Sea fleet flagship was hit by a barrage of Neptune missiles launched from the shore with stories saying 40 sailors have been killed and 200 wounded.
The ship had performed a lethal position within the battle by bombarding Ukrainian cities from positions at sea earlier than it was sunk, close to Snake Island.
Video footage surfaced showing to indicate the 611ft ship Moskva with smoke pouring from it and a rescue tug boat close by.
Now new audio launched by Ukraine reveals the panic on board because the crewman speaks to the tug boat searching for assist.
He says the ship has two holes and “it’s tilting to its aspect, I repeat, its tilting to 1 aspect…it’s broken, I confirmed shell holes under the waterline”.
The sailor then continues “captain’s bridge is reduce off, there isn’t a connection. The lean is 30 levels, it’ll tilt to 1 aspect.
“No method to get nearer. We’re finishing up a possible rescue of the crew.”
