Aachen (dpa) – The Worldwide Charlemagne Prize has been awarded in Aachen to the Belarusian opposition chief Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, to Veronica Tsepkalo and to Maria Kalesnikava, who’s imprisoned in Belarus. The three ladies stand for democratic improvement within the authoritarian-ruled nation and are being honoured for his or her brave dedication to freedom, democracy and the upholding of human rights.
