A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck Taiwan on Monday morning. There have been no quick stories of harm or accidents.
The quake had an estimated depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), based on the US Geological Survey. It struck 38 kilometers south of Hualien metropolis in Taiwan’s east at 9:05 a.m. native time (0105 GMT).
A second smaller tremor hit about half an hour later, based on Taiwan’s Central Climate Bureau.
No tsunami warnings had been issued.
Taiwan is often hit by earthquakesas the island lies close to the junction of two tectonic plates.
Greater than 100 folks had been killed in a quake in southern Taiwan in 2016, whereas a 7.3 magnitude quake killed greater than 2,000 folks in 1999.
